Statement of Faith and Religious Purpose

Scott and Lori Martin are the owners of Cub Creek Inc. - Cub Creek Science Camp and Bear River Ranch. We are also followers of Jesus Christ and strive to live our lives in a manner that is consistent with our faith. We created Cub Creek to be a camp welcoming of campers and staff from all backgrounds and worldviews.

For us, science is a tool that we use to answer questions and ground our faith. Our faith is built upon the foundation of Jesus's words given to us through the Bible. We strive to incorporate our faith and parinciples into every element of our lives, including Cub Creek Science Camp. One of the principles we hold most dear is to love our neighbors as ourselves and to do unto others as we would have them do unto us, by serving and teaching all visitors with the love that was given to us.

CCSC will encourage a love of science, and our lessons will focus on the science that is witnessable within our everyday lives. Many times, information is presented in a way that only showcases the most dominant view point, which neglects how a different view point can find different meanings within the same information. This leads to disagreements based not on fact, but in one's personal worldview. It's our goal at camp to encourage a love of science, teach the difference between facts and opinions and maintain a respectful and welcoming environment; Our camp is a place where we model how to live in peace with one another, by modeling kindness and engaging in meaningful discussions centered in fostering empathy and engaging with curiosity.

Camp's role is not to change a person's beliefs, but rather to help grow curiosity, knowledge, and empathy towards others. In addition to all the fun facts learned at camp, we want to help campers understand how a person's worldview affects how they interpret information. While data may not change, the conclusion reached from the interpretation of data does change based on a person's worldview. To suppor this data, interpretations and discussions aim to showcase multiple perspectives such as a biblical worldview and naturalist worldviews. We belive that when we increase undserstanding for someone different than ourselves, we can build a deeper love for all our neighbors. We look forward to providing campers with unforgettable camp experiences, full of fun activities, great friends, and amazing animal encounters.
